Winter Camping Merit Badge

Welcome to the Klondike Derby pages

Klondike Great Sled Race Starting Line

The Seventeenth Klondike Derby date is set for February 18, 2006
at Shiver (Shaver) Lake

This sixteen year old event for the Sequoia Council will take place on the grounds of Camp Chawanakee.
If you have not been there in the winter before, you won't recognize the place compared to summer.

Also, if you have not been there in the winter before, be aware that you will have to walk in to camp (1.87 miles).
The entry road will be packed down but not plowed, so no vehicles are allowed.
This is all part of the great year-round outdoor experiences that winter camping can provide to Scouts that take advantage of it.
